2026 RegenPGC Undergraduate Research Intern and Wartburg College student Alex Haus got a summer’s worth of learning with RegenPGC, and we like to think that a few lessons will last a lifetime as he moves toward his personal goal of becoming a teacher. According to Alex, the biggest takeaway from his internship was: “that you can’t go into something thinking you already know what you are learning, and that’s what I did this year since I did the same fieldwork last year. I was so confident in what I was going to do and then was confused when we did new things”
Alex’s goal this summer was to “determine the yield between short-stage and tall-stage corn with perennial ground cover.” With help from his mentor, Dr. Ken Moore, and RegenPGC graduate students Amina Moro and Cameron Krumm, Alex completed his project, “Performance of Short and Tall Stature Maize in Perennial Groundcover.”
