Trialing PGC

We know that many of you are interested in trialing Perennial Ground Cover. And we know we have a lot to learn from each of you. That’s why we are working on a document that provides guidance and tips to producers on how to trial PGC, a discussion of the risks involved (and how to mitigate them), and a list of key data we hope you will share with us so we can use what you learn to move others, science, and agriculture forward. Want to get more information? Email Anne Kinzel.

Goals

Our long-term goal is to develop and de-risk PGC systems, thereby creating multiple environmental benefits across the American Midwest. Our vision is to develop well-adapted PGC systems for a range of farming operations while requiring low labor inputs, providing equal or more ecosystem benefits, increasing resiliency, and having similar overall economic profiles as conventional row-crop practices.

Objectives

RegenPGC is organized into five main objectives:

  • Crop Ecology and Management
  • Plant Breeding and Genetics
  • Soil Health and Nutrient Management
  • Ecosystem Services and Modeling
  • Socioeconomic Impacts and Policy
