The cross-cutting R&D Theme focuses on creating and continuously improving modes of communication among RegenPGC objectives and individual participants – the foundation of interdisciplinary research. As our project includes a broad range of participants from numerous academic disciplines, the R&D Theme helps ensure the project leverages the full breadth of expertise within the RegenPGC team to address our initial ‘top four’ research priorities:
Increase the reliability of Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG) establishment
Decrease the time and cost of KBG suppression
Improve the understanding of KBG’s impact on soil carbon, and
Gain a better understanding of the policy implications related to adopting perennial ground cover systems.
Goals
Create a single data repository for all RegenPGC-related research.
Data integration and management are crucial elements of success for this project and the entire RegenPGC enterprise. Our Data Management Team meets regularily to develop a data management system that will ensure project data is available to future researchers and students.
Create formal and informal communication structures.
Activities include
An informal weekly 1-hour virtual café hosted by Brandon Schlautman for RegenPGC participants.
Monthly online meetings and annual face-to-face meetings.
