It’s amazing what you can accomplish in the summer, and Kaylee Johnson is living proof of that. Kaylee spent the summer with us in Ames researching “How do Sulfur and Cereal Rye Affect Corn and Soybean Growth” under the supervision of her mentor, Iowa State University’s Dr. Richard Roth. She also worked with Aaron Sassman and Larousse Dorrissant.
When Kaylee arrived in Ames in early June, she told us three things: Ames, hashtagIowa is very humid, and she wanted to see how science can play a part in a mathematics classroom. She also wanted to see how she could implement different classroom norms in the future, when she becomes a teacher.
We think she was a trooper in the face of the humidity and that she is well on her way to becoming the teacher we wish we all had or were lucky enough to have.
